At MFT, our counselors accommodate many different perspectives and consider different factors that affect society.
The racial and ethnic gap between therapists and their patients makes it difficult to find a counselor who can understand a patient’s experience. Race, historical oppression, geographic background, religion, disability, gender and even living conditions can affect someone’s personal experience and we believe that the connection between the patient and the therapist is crucial in multicultural counseling.
Our counselors emphasize care and empathy and take into consideration both racial and ethnic diversities. This allows them to better address unique challenges and acknowledge that a patient’s background can influence how they view the world. Our counselors, including Spanish- and Vietnamee-speaking therapists, accommodate these perspectives and demonstrate an understanding of their patients.
