Therapeutic Yoga

Unaddressed trauma can have significant impacts on our mood stability and physical well-being. It can create a sense of disconnection, trigger extreme activation or induce a numbed emotional state with pronounced emotional or physical reactions to specific stimuli.

Trauma-Informed Yoga (TIY) helps navigate through intense feelings by learning to embrace them. This distinct type of yoga differs from other forms of yoga as it focuses less on specific sequencing and poses and more on creating a safe space for inward awareness.

Through the use of diverse breathing and grounding methods and by providing choices that reduce the feeling of vulnerability among students, TIY assists them in becoming more in tune with their internal physical state. This is achieved by encouraging an exploration of the emotional responses that each posture provokes, fostering a heightened sense of bodily awareness. Once you tap into enhancing inward awareness in a way that feels safe, you can work on releasing built-up emotions, stress and tension.

Therapeutic yoga is not catered to a specific individual and can be performed in a group setting. We encourage you to join others on their journey to achieving their mental and/or physical goals, as it benefits everyone to work through their issues together.
